Months of the Year
The months of the year in Portuguese are:
- ❄️ janeiro (January)
- 💝 fevereiro (February)
- 🌱 março (March)
- 🌦️ abril (April)
- 🌷 maio (May)
- 🌞 junho (June)
- 🍦 julho (July)
- 🏖️ agosto (August)
- 🍁 setembro (September)
- 🍂 outubro (October)
- 🍄 novembro (November)
- 🌨️ dezembro (December)
💡In Portuguese, the months are written in lowercase, unless at the beginning of a sentence.
To say that something occurred ‘in’ a certain month, we use ‘em.’
- 🏖️ Em agosto vou de férias. (In August I’m going on holiday.)
Other useful prepositions used with the months (and the days of the week) are: ‘desde’ (since), ‘até’ (until), ‘de…a’ (from…to) or ‘de…até’ (from…until) and ‘entre’ (between).
- Desde dezembro que não chove. (It hasn’t rained since December.)
- Não há voos diretos até Maio. (There are no direct flights until May.)
- De julho a setembro não há aulas. (From July to September there are no classes.)
