Prepositions

Prepositions indicate a relation in terms of space, time, or logical connection between two or more people, places, or things.

Here are some of the most common Portuguese prepositions and their main usage.

A (to, at)

  • Indicates movement:
    • 🗼 Ele foi a Paris. (He went to Paris.)
  • Indicates time:
    • 🕐 A que horas nos encontramos? (At what time do we meet?)
  • Indicates price:
    • 🍊 Comprei laranjas a 1€ o quilo. (I bought oranges at 1€ a kilo.)
