Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026

This explains what we hold about you, why we hold it, who else can see it, and how to get it back or get it deleted. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who is responsible

DailyNata, registered in the Netherlands, KVK 91608643, VAT NL004903224B43. We decide what is collected here and why, which in the law’s words makes us the controller.

For anything on this page, write to ola at dailynata dot com or use the help page.

What we collect

If you join the free email

Your email address, and your first name if you give it. The free list is kept with MailerLite, and they record whether an email was opened.

If you become a member

  • Your email address, and your first name if you give one.
  • A reference number from Stripe that links your account to your payments. Your card details stay with Stripe. We never see them and we never store them.
  • The country and time zone that came with your payment.
  • When you joined, when you last signed in, and whether your membership is active.

As you use the site

  • Which lessons you have opened, and how far down each one you got.
  • Which lessons you have marked as done, and which you have saved.
  • Your scores on the exercises, and how many attempts each took.
  • How much of a recording you listened to.
  • Notices you have dismissed, so we do not show them again.

This is what your own progress pages are made of. It is not sold, it is not shared, and it is not used to advertise anything to you.

When you write to us

Your message and your email address, so we can reply. If you ask us for a lesson on something, we keep the request.

Email we send you

For each one: the subject, when it was sent, and whether it was delivered or bounced. We keep this so that when someone says they never got their sign-in link, we can actually find out.

Visitor numbers

We count visits to pages so we know which lessons people read. This uses no cookies and does not identify anybody. We cannot tell from it who read what.

Why we are allowed to hold it

  • To run your membership and give you the lessons you have paid for. This is our contract with you.
  • To take payment. Also the contract.
  • To send the free Saturday email. Your consent, which you can withdraw at any moment with the unsubscribe link.
  • To keep the site working and safe: the records that stop somebody requesting a thousand sign-in links, and the log of what was sent. Our legitimate interest in a site that stays up.
  • To keep our books. Dutch tax law requires us to keep invoice records for seven years, and we have no choice about that one.

Cookies

We use no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies, and our visitor counting uses none at all. That is why this site has never shown you a cookie banner. The only cookies here are the ones that make it work:

  • Signing in. One cookie that keeps you signed in for two weeks, so you are not asked for a link on every page.
  • Your preferences. Small cookies remembering how you last chose to view a shelf, and which kinds of lesson you had switched off.
  • Checkout. A short-lived cookie during payment, so that when Stripe sends you back we know which payment was yours.

Who else sees it

We use other companies to run the site. Each sees only what it needs:

  • Stripe takes the payments and holds the card details.
  • Supabase hosts the database, on servers in Ireland.
  • Cloudflare stores the audio, the images and the exercises.
  • Vercel hosts the site itself and counts the visits.
  • Amazon SES sends our email, including your sign-in links.
  • MailerLite holds the free email list.

We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to anyone for their own advertising.

Information leaving Europe

Our database is in Ireland. Some of the companies above are American, so some information may be handled outside the EU. Where that happens it is covered by the standard contracts and safeguards the EU requires for exactly this.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and your progress: while you have an account, and for two years after it ends, so that somebody coming back does not lose everything they had done. Ask us and we will delete it sooner.
  • Invoices and payment records: seven years, because Dutch law says so.
  • The free email list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Messages you send us: two years.

What you can ask for

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your account and everything in it;
  • hand your information over in a form you can take elsewhere;
  • stop using it in a particular way, or stop emailing you.

Write to ola at dailynata dot com. We will answer within a month, and there is nothing to pay. We may have to keep invoice records even after deleting the rest, because of the seven-year rule above.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the equivalent authority in your own country.

Children

DailyNata is not meant for children. You need to be at least 16 to have an account, and we do not knowingly collect anything about anyone younger.

Changes to this policy

If we change something that matters, we will say so on this page and change the date at the top, and we will tell members by email before it takes effect.

Anything here you would like explained? Write to ola at dailynata dot com and ask.
