Adverbs

Adverbs in Portuguese are called ‘advérbios.’ They are words that give more information about how, when, where, or how much something happens. An adverb is a word that changes or adds meaning to:

  • A verb (an action)
    • 🏃 Ela correu depressa. (She ran quickly.)
  • An adjective (a describing word)
    • 😄 Estava extremamente feliz. (She was extremely happy.)
  • Another adverb
    • 🗣️ Ele falou muito bem. (He spoke very well.)
  • A whole sentence
    • 🍀 Felizmente, correu tudo bem. (Fortunately, everything went well.)
