Adverbs
Adverbs in Portuguese are called ‘advérbios.’ They are words that give more information about how, when, where, or how much something happens. An adverb is a word that changes or adds meaning to:
- A verb (an action)
- 🏃 Ela correu depressa. (She ran quickly.)
- An adjective (a describing word)
- 😄 Estava extremamente feliz. (She was extremely happy.)
- Another adverb
- 🗣️ Ele falou muito bem. (He spoke very well.)
- A whole sentence
- 🍀 Felizmente, correu tudo bem. (Fortunately, everything went well.)
