Armed Potato Guards

Initially, potatoes weren't popular in Europe. They were even banned in France between 1748 and 1772. That is until the French *agronomer Antoine-Augustin Parmentier started a “publicity campaign” to make potatoes more desirable.

One such stunt was placing armed guards on his potato farm during the day, to give the idea that they were protecting a valuable crop, and then removing the guards at night para que as pessoas pudessem lá ir roubá-las!so people could go and steal them!
