Regular verbs
There are three regular verb patterns (known as conjugations). Each conjugation is identifiable by the ending of the infinitive: -ar, -er or -ir.
- First conjugation verbs end in -ar ➡ “esperar” (to wait)
- Second conjugation verbs end in -er ➡ “correr” (to run)
- Third conjugation verbs end in -ir ➡ “abrir” (to open)
The stem is formed by removing the ending from the infinitive and adding the appropriate endings for each person, as shown in the table below.
