Imperative Mood

In Portuguese, the imperative is used to:

• Give commands and instructions
  • 🚪 Vai-te embora! (Go away!)
  • 🛣️ Vire na primeira à direita. (Take the first right.)
• Give advice
  • 👂 Ouve o que te digo. (Listen to what I say.)
  • 🙄 Oh, não ligues. (Oh, pay no attention/ don't mind.)
• Make a suggestion or an invitation
  • 🎬 Veja este filme, é ótimo. (Watch this movie, it is great.)
  • 🍽️ Venham jantar connosco no domingo. (Come have dinner with us on Sunday.)
• Make requests or to implore
  • 🪟 Limpe as janelas, por favor. (Clean the windows, please.)
  • 📄 Traga os documentos, por favor. (Bring the documents, please.)
  • 😱 Socorro! Ajudem-me! (Help! Help me!)
