Café matinal (morning coffee)
“Matinal” is an adjective that describes something as happening in the morning or being characteristic of the morning, such as “o orvalho matinal” (the morning dew). It has the same form for masculine and feminine nouns but it must take the plural form “matinais” when the noun is plural.
For example: “Quais são os teus hábitos matinais?” (What are your morning habits?).
Chá verde (green tea)
The word “chá” (tea) comes from the Mandarin Chinese word “ch’a”, with the same meaning. The word “chá” is popularly used in Portugal as a synonym for infusions of leaves and herbs, whether or not containing tea leaves.
