Moctezuma's Gold

After entering what are parts of today’s Mexico, the Spanish eventually got involved in the politics of the indigenous peoples.

One of the indigenous leaders, Moctezuma II, allied with the Spanish but eventually became their prisoner due to unclear circumstances. However, since Moctezuma was a noble, he was treated with respect.

The respect was to a point that when one of his guards passed gas in front of him, the guard immediately and compulsively begged for forgiveness.

To show that he accepted his apology, Moctezuma gave the guard a piece of gold. The guard then immediately começou a soltar gases constantemente para tentar conseguir mais ouro!started passing gas constantly to try and get more gold!
