Subject Pronouns
Subject pronouns are a class of pronouns used to replace the subject in a sentence. For example, instead of saying ‘O João está feliz.’ (João is happy.), we can use the pronoun ‘ele' (he) and say ‘Ele está feliz.’ (He is happy.).
Subject pronouns replace and refer back to the subject in a more concise way, while also conveying important information about number, gender, and formality.
